Welcome to Difference Makers: A Leadership Podcast

Hi! I am Tim McWilliams.

I’ve been a leadership practitioner, scholar, leader development professional for a long time. I have not only designed, updated, and managed important DoD civilian leader development programs, but also deliver my own workshops, courses and programs (see my story and full bio here). I created Difference Makers Leadership Podcast to provide a better way of developing leaders who make a positive difference in the lives of people, teams, and organizations. In contrast to the archaic leader development approaches and curriculum still used today, I provide a modern, comprehensive, and holistic approach leadership and leader development to meet the 21st century needs and challenges that are grounded in the latest multidiscipline scholarship and perfected in real leader development programs (see Leadership and Leader Development Problem and Solution here).

In my website, Substack community, and podcast I will share everything I have learned with you and challenge you to elevate your leadership. In doing so, I will give you expert insights and ask you thought-provoking questions that will help you increase your leadership capacity and not only become a leader that people want to follow, but also become the exceptional leader we need now—a difference maker. Regardless of where you are in your leadership journey, I promise to give you something valuable to make the time you spend with me worthwhile. My philosophy is simple—before you can lead others you must be able to lead yourself. Therefore, my purpose is always twofold. (1) to enrich and equip you for your growth and development toward achieving your full human potential and becoming a leader who makes a positive difference; and (2) equip you as leaders to develop other leaders—because that is what exceptional leaders do—they invest in people to help them grow toward achieving their full potential and become exceptional leaders themselves.
